I wish I could do justice to the “real thing,”
but above is a facsimile of the auto license plate that the Program Sales
Committee has proposed for sale to raise funds to help defray association
expenses. Barely seen in the lower right hand corner (in red field}
are the copyright words L’Association des Hebert du Monde 1999. The
colors and the design will be more vivid and readable on the license plates
itself. This license is being sold to defray expenses of the Association,
of which some may be expenses of the reunion.
UPDATE OF LAST TWO MEETINGS;
April 13 - Thibodeaux - Although the attendance
from that area was smoall, great things have happened because of the meeting.
Darrel and Tim Hebert (Thibodeaux and Houma respectively) have agred to
startup a satellite group from the southeast Acadiana area. This
group will remain part of ours and will assist us in our endeavors.
May 18 - Abbeville City Court - The meeting
was attended by 20 people (our smallest attendance yet) but a lot was done.
The Association members will receive an invitation for our first social
soon (Christmas in Abbeville). The group approved the license plate
fund raising idea and made a decision to sell the plates at fifteen ($15)
for the pair, in addition a fee of $1 for postage would be added to defray
the cost of mailing, since sales would be mostly by mail order.
Our next meetings away from Abbeville will
be in the Lake Charles area sometimes in September and in the Houston area
Thanksgiving Saturday, November 29th.
Member Stephanie Hebert will be in charge
of making hotel arrangements for the out-of-towners going to Houston.
More on the special event and meetings later.
